Procon Group Inc. has provided general contracting and construction management since 2008, working across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area and Southern Ontario. Our industrial work covers renovations, expansions and facility upgrades to warehouses, production plants and food-production facilities, typically in the range of approximately $25,000 to $3 million.
Most of this work happens inside buildings that are already running. Production continues, product moves, shipping schedules hold — and construction has to fit around all of it.
Working in an operating plant changes how a project is planned. Hoarding and temporary partitions separate construction from production and storage areas. Trades are sequenced against shift patterns and shipping windows rather than against a clean-site schedule. Deliveries, equipment moves and noisy work are timed to avoid production runs.
We coordinate directly with plant management on access, shutdown windows and the movement of materials through occupied space, and we keep the construction zone under control — protected, clean and clearly bounded — for the whole duration.
Food-production environments carry requirements ordinary industrial work does not. Insulated panel assemblies have to be detailed correctly at floors, walls, ceilings, penetrations and service connections. Cold-storage rooms need their envelope, refrigeration and drainage working together. Finished surfaces and housekeeping standards matter during construction, not only at handover.
Our experience includes insulated slabs, freezer and cooler construction, refrigeration infrastructure and production-equipment coordination within food-production facilities that remained operational during the work.
We are a construction contractor rather than a process engineer: we build, coordinate and install to the design, working alongside the equipment suppliers and consultants who specify it.
Industrial projects reward early planning. Site logistics, access routes, service interruptions and long-lead equipment are worked through before construction starts, so the schedule reflects the real constraints of the building.
Site control and safety are managed continuously — not only for our own trades, but for the employees working metres away. Projects finish with deficiency review, documentation and handover, and we stay accountable through closeout rather than stepping back at substantial completion.
